Meet the Founder

Harrison Givens

I started the Givens Health Venture Report because I believe we are standing on the edge of "Endless Possibilities" in how we care for one another. My path to this work hasn't been a straight line; it’s been a collection of experiences—from the sterile quiet of a Yale neuro-lab to the fast-paced energy of the Austin startup scene—all driven by a single question: How do we make high-tech healthcare actually work for the people who need it most?

A Technical Lens, A Human Focus

My background is in Biomedical Engineering, specifically focusing on how we translate complex neurotechnology from a laboratory bench to a patient’s bedside. While at Yale, I spent my time obsessing over the safety and mechanics of implantable biosensors. That technical "under the hood" knowledge allows me to look at new health-tech not just as a business idea, but as a piece of engineering that has to perform flawlessly in a clinical setting.

Deep Roots in Texas Healthcare

Austin is my home, and I’m deeply invested in the Texas healthcare landscape. Through my work with Texas Health Catalyst, I have the privilege of helping early-stage health-tech ventures find their footing in our local ecosystem. This isn't just about venture capital for me; it’s about the people. Whether I’m shadowing surgeons at Ascension Seton, helping build machines to support menstrual hygiene in refugee camps, or facilitating equine therapy for veterans right here in Texas, I’m constantly reminded that the best technology is the kind that fosters human connection.

The "Why" Behind the Report

In my day-to-day work at a global research firm, I help large life science organizations and venture-backed startups navigate their most complex strategic hurdles. I created this report to share those high-level insights with a broader community. I want to bridge the gap between the data-heavy world of "Longevity Capital" and the real-world reality of patient care.

I’m glad you’re here. Let’s explore what’s possible.
